The Painting

A watercolour measuring 16½" x 15¼". Signed Hilary Cobbett. Provenance: believed to be from the Society of Women Artists Exhibition of 1934 (Catalogue No. 312).


About the Artist

Hilary Dulcie Cobbett (b. 1885) was a watercolour painter, daughter of the landscape and architectural painter William V. H. Cobbett. She studied and lived in Richmond, Surrey. She became an Associate of the Society of Women Artists in 1937. She exhibited, amongst others, at the Royal Academy (5), the Royal Society of British Artists (2), and the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (14). In the period 1928-1965 she exhibited 60 paintings at the annual exhibitions of the Society of Women Artists.
